Kati és Mari
Welcome to our "sitcom-type" dialogue e-books! You can meet Kati and Mari, these two lively girls and you can immerse yourself in their adventures! 🙂
Currently the series are available at two levels: A1-A2 (Elementary PLUS) and B1-B2 (Pre-Intermediate/Intermediate). The two stories are NOT the same at different levels, they are completely different stories! And even though the intermediate e-book begins where the elementary story leaves off, both stories are complete and independent on their owns, so it’s absolutely no problem to read only one of the sets.
What both e-books have in common is that they are both about the adventures of Kati and Mari. There is an important difference though:
The Elementary PLUS e-book (A1-A2) covers some typical every-day situations embedded into the story line. If you are planning to come to Hungary or if you already live here, they will be very useful for you. Such situations include: introducing yourself, asking questions about others and answering questions about yourself, shopping in a supermarket, shopping for clothes, going to the doctor, going to the pharmacy, checking-in at a hotel etc.
Briefly: There is an interesting, funny plot but you will also find practical every-day situations embedded in the story.
Important: You should NOT be a complete beginner if you want to read this e-book! You should already have some basic grammar knowledge (like verb conjugation, possessives etc) and some basic vocabulary!
The (Pre)intermediate e-book (B1-B2), however, does not contain typical every-day situations but focuses much more on the adventures of the two women.

And why is it good for YOU?
With our stories you can improve your listening and reading comprehension skills and at the same time you will learn lots of useful every-day words and expressions and even frequently used slang words that you can’t normally find in traditional textbooks! Each dialogue comes with an extensive vocabulary list (including not just the words but also the most common endings so that you can learn them properly, which will enable you to use them in conversation or in written texts). You will also find audios to each text, therefore your pronunciation will also get better!

You enjoy reading and listening to the stories but you also would like to practise because you would like to expand your vocabulary and improve your grammar as well?
With our Exercise Sets for the E-books Kati and Mari you can do that! You can practise the most important vocabulary and grammar items of each episode.
We divided the e-books into "digestable units" with the aim that you should be able to cover one unit within a month if you devote some time to learning every week.
One unit includes:
- THREE episodes of the e-book with the same audio files and vocabulary lists and a fourth REVISION part, just as you can see in our free units
- an audio of the vocabulary (you do not have it with the e-books!)
- one grammar or vocabulary handout (for grammar or difficult/extra vocabulary items that come up in the "episode".)
- vocabulary and grammar exercises (gap exercises, synonyms, translations etc.)
- a key to all exercises
- a fourth "review" part to practise the most important grammar and vocab items again

WHEN
- you are not a complete beginner. Even for the Elementary PLUS set you need some prior knowledge. Please do our tests to find out if your Hungarian skills are sufficient to start with our Elementary PLUS or Intermediate sets!

Should you find, that your level isn’t high enough, don’t worry! You can start learning with our Listening Sets or book some lessons with our Teacher and soon you will reach the level where you can easily understand the story of Kati és Mari. - you would like to improve your listening and reading comprehension skills and you are eager to learn lots of new vocabulary and expressions. With our vocabulary exercises and revision parts you will not only learn a lot of new words but you will also be able to retain them and use them actively.
- you would like to improve your grammar. In many episodes you will find extra grammar handouts with exercises and a key. These exercises also include translations that are very useful for practising both grammar and vocabulary.
- you would like to improve your pronunciation. With our extra vocabulary audio you can listen to and practise all the new words in a given episode.
- if you like reading stories and listening to stories in general and in particular to Hungarian stories!
- if you don’t like reading in general and you wouldn’t want to read a novel with lots of (dull) descriptions but you are ready to read short dialogues that contain lots of useful words and phrases!

about working with the Exercise Sets
How to start? Well, if I were you, I’d listen to the audio first to get a general idea of what’s going on. Then I’d read the story. First without the help of the vocabulary list and then again with the list. Then I’d listen to the audio again to improve my listening skills. After that I’d do the vocabulary and grammar exercises and also go through the grammar handout. This way you can improve your listening and reading comprehension skills, expand your vocabulary and also practise grammar. And a little bonus: With our audio of the vocabulary you can also improve your pronunciation!
You want to combine reading the stories and having a lesson with our Teacher? No problem! In this case simply book lessons type "Professional lessons based on "sitcom"-dialogue stories". The price of these lessons include the story, so from week to week you will get a unit for free and you can practise with our Teacher.
